Like Rabbi ibn Ezra, Rav Saadia Gaon was multi-lingual, a polymath. For example Rav Saadia translated the Tanakh from Hebrew into Arabic known as the Tafsir. Studies also exist of Rav Saadia's particular use of philosophic language and use of Hebrew and Aramaic.
Rav Saadia Gaon wrote numerous works with philosophical rigor. His magnum opus is Sefer Emunot VeDeot. The chapter headings themselves destined much of later Jewish Philosophic thinking. Chapters include: Divine Creation ex nihilo;Unity and Uniqueness of Creator;Positive and Negative Commandments; Predestination and Providence;Merits (zekut) and demerits (reward and punishment); essence of the soul and Afterlife;Resurection; Redemption (Geulah); Olam ha-bah; Proper Conduct ; divine names etc
