Touro's Interdisciplinary Institute for Healthy Aging (TIIHA)

The TIIHA initiative will reflect the vast array of programs that Touro offers to meet the needs of the aging population and will include the four pillars including education, community service, research, and policy initiatives.

Eldercare Directory - Essential resources for older persons and their caregivers
Every state has an Aging Services Division and often many localities offer services to the older person as well. Use the zip code locator to find services in a specific geographic area.

National Council on Aging -  Resources, tools, best practices, and advocacy for the older person, caregivers, professionals, and advocates.

National Institute on Aging (NIA) - NIA, one of the 27 Institutes and Centers of National Institutes of Health,  leads a broad scientific effort to understand the nature of aging and to extend the healthy, active years of life. NIA is the primary Federal agency supporting and conducting Alzheimer's disease research.

Medicare - this is a health insurance program for Social Security beneficiaries, provides comprehensive medical and hospital insurance benefits, and also offers optional prescription drug coverage and managed care plans.

Senior Planet Community, AARP's social media platform for seniors and includes everything from learning how to maximize better use of the internet and technology, health awareness, free exercise courses, etc.

SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration) - SAMHSA has a number of products for serving older adults with mental and substance use disorders that can be useful to clinicians, other service providers, older adults, and caregivers

CityMeals on Wheels - provides a continuous lifeline of nourishing meals and vital companionship to almost 22,000 of New York City homebound elderly neighbors.

Meals on Wheels America - provides nourishing  meals, socialization, and assistance to seniors throughout the United States. Use the zip code locator on the homepage to find the nearest program.

Medline Plus - online health information resource for patients and their families and friends. This is a service of the National Library of Medicine (NLM), the world's largest medical library, which is part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Social Security Adminstration - United States official government website for Social Security benefits, programs, and Medicare enrollment.
